Re: NAMM 08 - Report From a Random Dude
We arrived at around noon on Thursday. Of course, we grabbed a map and immediately went to find the Ableton Booth. Based on the map, we ended up here
We then realized that this was where they did their "meetings", so we went to find them in the main software section:
Here's their stage:
Here's the rest of the booth where people could see what was being done:
Note, they had somehow resized the screen so as not to display the CPU meter. Nice try, but we know better!
Here's a show by Muldover. That guy does amazing stuff and makes it looks easy...of course anyone who's seen him perform knows what a master he is. Also, it's a bit blurry, but he has mangled/customized his controllers to allow him to do some crazy shit. This was the highlight for sure.

For those wondering what Spectrasonics is hawking now, it's Omnisphere:
After about 5 minutes, I got really bored of this. It looks like Atmosphere, but sounds like an advanced ROMplayer with realtime modulation functionality. I didn't find it too interesting, but that's just me. Persing was his usual bubbly self. Hope that can make up for the development time - it's due out in SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!

well, I'll try to take pics of the Abes today or tomorrow...Just to clarify, there was no connection with M-Audio at all. Only with Cycling '74.hoffman2k wrote:Apart from the artists, who else in those pictures?
I see Persing, Moldover and Devine.
Where's Cross, Terry, Hill, etc...
Is Ableton actually being represented by Ableton? Or some M-audio dudes with Ableton banners so people wouldn't fling poo at them?
Propellerheads booth - not much to say, other than I didn't think they intended for people to turn their monitors vertically to actually use Reason...

As promised, I tried to also have sex with Blofeld, but again, got kicked out just after getting to first base. Damn these German synths not putting out...
Note, a VSTi integration piece is in the works, but so far, the USB port is just for firmware upgrades. However, it is USB2.0. Also, note that it doesn't feel finished yet. The filter cut knob felt like there was latency and delay. Overall, I don't feel this synth is ready for prime time yet. But when it is, it's gonna be bad ass. It's got that creamy waldorf sound.
