Post by CoertE » Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:40 pm

Hi guys

I want to know how to correct the beat match after you have done warping and everything if you DJ and the 2 tracks are lined up and have the same tempo and 1 of the tracks are slightly off beat is there a way to pitch shift it fasster or slower so that it alligns again?????

It sounds like your warping is slightly out.

If you set the global quantise to NONE, then use the Nudge Buttons in the clip Properties (Bottom left of screen) you can nudge the playing song slightly. Once they're beat sync'd, press save on the clip.

The next time you play the 2 tunes together they will remain in sync.

Re-check your warping against the gnome.

It is the easiest way to sort it out now before you go into a live situation. Nudging is great for syncing to another DJ or live band etc.

But i wouldnt want to be caught doing a set live without being 100% sure my warping was spot on!

It depends on how confident you are about the drift and Lives autowarping.

if its an MP3 of a vinyl rip, it's going to take you a while to go through it bar by bar and warp.

if it's a more modern track that has been produced on a computer then you may only have to check every 8 or 16 bars or so to ensure your kick drum is still in time.

There is no other way, but it pays dividends in the long run to be confident you can throw in whatever track you want whenever you want and be SURE it is in time.

You can relax and enjoy the music and the party! :D

I have my markers set to not automatically line up as ableton would do.

So I have to put them in myself.is this right:

I put a marker at the first kick of the clip, then choose "warp here from (straight)" at the right clip of the mouse and just adjust them to the other kicks

That's more or less the basic principal, but hop on over to Abletonlivedj.com and search out"guide to warping"

It'll sort you out.
