I'm totally with you all the way but I really think any form of moderation/censorship is for the worst. Which goes for this wonderful forum and life in general... But what to do, then. As I said earlier, this is what comes with freedom and freedom of speech. It's actually an interesting dilemma which we in Denmark have had some experience with recently. (certain cartoonists drawings ex.)

Vote kicking like in online games may be a solution?? But no moderators, please...

Yeah i understand you. Mods sometimes seems to cut off discussions while they are at a break, and if the involved parts are worth anything they will solve it themself! Breaking it up just leaves some things out that maybe should have been taken.

For example, when discussing R&B with Leisuremuffin, it was first towards the end we figured we actually had the same points on the stuff, just i was a little too quick. If some mod cut that discussion, we wouldn't have reached that point and one of us might be running around making stupid posts to the other and such kiddie things, but we solved it ourself.

The only moderation should be to delete obvious spam posts.

[btw the reason i made that comment you quoted was that you said something about signal to noise ratio was a bit bad around releases, and i referred to myself as being noisy

no I had a momentary lapse of reason - for some reason I thought you only had to log in to one to access both, but it's actually just that you stay logged in on the same computer in the product reg area until you log out

The p0rrn bots are our fault. We've left quite a trail of bread crumbs that's indexed by the internet gods on a daily basis.
So..... HA HA HA HA on us. Hell, this thread will have more bots leaving their droppings.

If forum members are made mods they should only have the authority to delete spam threads, as others have said. Also, their identities should not be made public. Another forum I frequent did this, made a couple of regular posters mods with limited powers. They kept their identities lo key so there would be no hard feelings from anyone or any personality clashes based solely on the persons name. The mods don't participate in the forum using their mod account and they do not censor or delete users threads, only spam bot threads.

It's worked out pretty well.

It would be nice to see Ableton take some sort of initiative on this as we all have been complaining about it for what, about a year now?
