Yup. It's creative!!!

Actually maybe you shouldn't be a mod after all, you'd be going around correcting people's grammer and spelling and other similarly swotty vices.

Well, no neither have I really, it just gets a little frustrating sometimes when you can see no other way to solve something like this other than going againced something you believe in quite strongly, namely that having no moderators makes for a better forum. I've been strongly againced moderators here for years anfd finally here I am actually suggesting it.

This is without a doubt the best Music forum I've ever been a member of, some of the best discussion, argument and humour here couldn't have happened with full blown moderators. I fucking hate spam in all it's forms though, I think something needs to be done about it here and was just suggesting some form of compromise.

@forge, thanks.
I'm totally with you all the way but I really think any form of moderation/censorship is for the worst. Which goes for this wonderful forum and life in general... But what to do, then. As I said earlier, this is what comes with freedom and freedom of speech. It's actually an interesting dilemma which we in Denmark have had some experience with recently. (certain cartoonists drawings ex.)

Vote kicking like in online games may be a solution?? But no moderators, please...

Yeah i understand you. Mods sometimes seems to cut off discussions while they are at a break, and if the involved parts are worth anything they will solve it themself! Breaking it up just leaves some things out that maybe should have been taken.

For example, when discussing R&B with Leisuremuffin, it was first towards the end we figured we actually had the same points on the stuff, just i was a little too quick. If some mod cut that discussion, we wouldn't have reached that point and one of us might be running around making stupid posts to the other and such kiddie things, but we solved it ourself.

The only moderation should be to delete obvious spam posts.

[btw the reason i made that comment you quoted was that you said something about signal to noise ratio was a bit bad around releases, and i referred to myself as being noisy :P]

I think the problem is more to do with the way it is all set up - as in security settings to do with peoples accounts etc - I guess maybe people with mod rights can also see people's serials etc - that's a guess though, but I have a feeling it's not as simple as just letting us delete theads
I can't see why the Abes would have S/Ns as part of the forum user data; I know I can't call up user data besides the normal join date, etc. over on the NI forums...

no I had a momentary lapse of reason - for some reason I thought you only had to log in to one to access both, but it's actually just that you stay logged in on the same computer in the product reg area until you log out

...I was drawn here by the irresistible stench of irony... hmm, didn't the mods have to remove some pornographic pictures you posted DJAnalingus206 ?

For anyone who doesn't know, the answer to that question is : Yes they did.

At least the pornbots, most of the time, have the decency to provide a clear SUBJECT for their filth.

DJAnalingus206 on the otherhand is the type of smut-peddler who posts his porn in threads where you wouldn't expect it.

i do! some of them are funny as fuck! what i would like to know is if anybody actually clicks on the links  you can get it all here at the ableton forum: boring techno babble, funny ass fights, the worlds news, music info, gear ratings, music links, other people who share your hobby, enemies you can block  , production and playing tips, gear for sale, cialisviaGra, sofaimbot, i mean come on! the "poster" says bot in their name!

fuck it. don't click on it. if you are at work, and could get in trouble for it, well shouldn't you be working? go to some lame moderated forum, where it is safer. your friends will be here when you get home.

totally against any moderation. unless it was b0unce

The p0rrn bots are our fault. We've left quite a trail of bread crumbs that's indexed by the internet gods on a daily basis.
So..... HA HA HA HA on us. Hell, this thread will have more bots leaving their droppings.

That crap doesn't bother me in the least cuz I don't click on it.

To me it's like the pr0stidut3s hanging out on the corner.

Anyway if ya need it done (and I don't care either way) then stick it to abes. It doesn't take a
moderator with even half a brain to decide what's a post and what's p0rrn. For cryin out loud.

Actually, it's mostly b0unce's fault me thinks

FYI 99.99999% of my time at work is actually spent flat out designing ads for fucking estate agents, it's part of my karma and that's the only way i can look at it,
You forgot to mention that it's really none of his business and has absolutely no relevance to the topic.

*posted form work with my boss sitting just across from me*

If forum members are made mods they should only have the authority to delete spam threads, as others have said. Also, their identities should not be made public. Another forum I frequent did this, made a couple of regular posters mods with limited powers. They kept their identities lo key so there would be no hard feelings from anyone or any personality clashes based solely on the persons name. The mods don't participate in the forum using their mod account and they do not censor or delete users threads, only spam bot threads.

It's worked out pretty well.

It would be nice to see Ableton take some sort of initiative on this as we all have been complaining about it for what, about a year now?
