Seems to jump 17 values every 2/2048th.
Not sure what to make of that result.
Its not the smooth line I sent, but then again.. That would be impossible to record, since it needs to store breakpoints.
Some comparative testing is in order I guess.
I'll try it on a 960ppq hardware sequencer with an event list tomorrow.
Maybe somebody else can give it a whirl in Logic or god forbid.. Cubase..
Simple test. 1 clip in Live sending a 1 bar sweep of the pitchbend going from -8192 to 8192. Record it in whatever isn't Live and we'll compare notes.
Pitchbend midi resolution - nasty !
Ok, so here's a ramp of pitchbend drawn in the midi view, it has two points (start and end)

I routed that out of a virtual midi port and back into a virtual midi in port :

I used no Options.txt for this experiment. That's why this is labeled 'default thinning'
you can see that this is much less crappy than my earlier pitchbend - which leads me to suspect that either the RME midi interface is a bit off, or the control keyboard is sending crappy data.
Of course, the traditional Live data staircase is still a bit unpleasant, and I'm not really sure why they don;t just discard duplicate data on consecutive points - because that would remove the staircasing.
I still have to go and get my good controller keyboard out of storage, I'm hankering for some aftertouch action so it should happen soon.
I'll try more tests with that.
