Small Soundcard for playing live

Post by chymera » Thu Feb 07, 2008 2:29 pm

Hey,

I have an echo indigo pcmcia soundcard which I previously used for playing live but now my new laptop only has an express card slot... Can anyone recommend a SMALL soundcard (usb, firewire) with good sound and low latency for playing live. At the moment I have to use my Firewire 410 which is a heavy beast.

All i need is a stereo out! nothing fancy

Cheers!!

I just got an Apogee Duet, I am pretty happy with it. I'm using aggregate devices in OS X to get my cue out. The sound is fantastic. I'll be posting more details as I get to really put it to the test. Of course, this only is an option if you are on a Mac.

NI Audio Kontrol 1 2 in 4 out

Great sound, easy setup, v solid build, good features. USB2, not a twitch w/ mine so far, v. happy. This was a replacement for an Indigo DJ too btw.

I'm pretty happy with the Preonus Firebox, it's got more ins and outs than you need but it's still nice and small and is built out of metal so it's giggable, unlike a lot of the plastic soundcards out there. Audio quality is quite good and latency is really low.
