hi all,

i am a total newbie, feel even bad to open a thread, but i guess i need to start somewhere.

i just got the EMU keyboard with 25 keys.
software provided was Ableton 4 and proteus X 3 cd's.
Now my issue is how does Proteus work ? with Cubase? Ableton?
this is all new to me and since i am a TOTAL newbie wondered if there is some links to help me out.

hello there!

the proteus software works both in standalone or VSTi mode. if you want to play the instrument within live, you have to set a VST plugins folder within live and have live your plugins scanned.

then you can insert the proteus vsti in an audio track ...

play & have phun!

when u mean standalone? just install the program proteux X in my HD and there should be a program to run right? well there is not a folder as such to run standalone.(((

ill try insert it in ableton Live 4.0

hey

standalone means that the software can run without cubase, logic, ableton, etc (all this DAW programs can act like a VST host).

when you install the proteus software there should be a dll file installed in a folder called c:/example/vst-plugins

in this case you have to activate the c:/example/vst-plugins folder in ableton (in the preferences) and let live do a scan of that folder´s content ...

then you go in live´s plugin browser and drag and drop the proteus.dll in an audio track ...

btw the live manual describes the technique ...

hello all,

so i managed to get the proteus instruments inserted with the editor on Ableton live 4.0.

BUT my X-board 25 key EMU does not respond to any keystroke.

in preferences its recognised.

dunno what else to do tottally lost:(
