after fiddling around withe the 7.0.2 demo i`ve got some questions before splashing the cash:
Setup/ performance:
I am on a new imac alu., 2.4Ghz C2D , leopard, 3GB ram, internal soundcard.
I got 47% on the test from the test thread. I`ve read numerous times on this forum that a cpu reading around 65-70% could make Live stutter. Honestly, I dont know how demanding the 8 tracks from the test project are, will my system be able to run Live ok? Guess I have to add that I am looking at making music solely "in live". No recording of live instruments, no live-on stage stuff/ dj`ing, just software synths/ effects etc.
Live vs. Logic, value for money:
Ok, I was going to buy Logic studio after the upgrade and price drop. The price is a factor for me atm. What made me turn to Live7 was apples lousy user support and performance issues with Logic 8 on Leopard. On the other hand I guess I wont really use Live for what it was intended to, like real time manipulation of sounds. The session view does not appeal to me, i intend to work linear
So will I end up paying more for a product that I end up using only a fraction of?
Suite or no suite:
I like operator (even though I have no clue how to use it), it seems capable of generating the kind of synth sounds I like. ( Lindstrøm, glass candy, junior boys, metro area, booka shade etc.) Not so sure about Electric, Tension and Analog, will I use them? Do you use them? Could I find free vsti`s that will do the job? What about sampler, is suite worth the extra money?
Thanks for taking your time to read this!
