How do you chop samples in live or is st even possible
I've been working for days trying various ways to chop and trigger samples with Live 6.I'm looking for a way that's fairly convenient and effeceint. Also, does anyone have any advice into the easiest and/or best way of chopping samples outside of Live, via mpc or keyboard or other software. any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

In Live, the easiest way is to drag the samples into Arrange view, expand the track, then highlight the portion you want and hit CTRL+E (CMD+E on a Mac). Then you can right click on it, and choose "Crop Sample".

Hi Tnevs,
For chopping beats in Live 6, check out the movie Creating Beats here:

But if you want to do it the easy way, check out Live 7's Drum Racks & Slicing:

I started on an MPC, but this way is a lot easier.
Best,
Jesse

check out simpler or sampler for thistnevz wrote:Ok, so I got that figured out already. I was using impulse to trigger a sample but now it's not letting me switch out the drum sample with a song clip. I'm wanting to use Live sort of as an mpc, I guess my real trouble is figuring out a reliable way to trigger samples, multiple samples of a song.
