just learning LIVE now and going through the recording audio tutorial I thought recording in arrange view would produce a clip in the session view, nope

Is it like this by design or by default?

Yes, they are separate. You can very easily drag something you recorded from arrange into session and it will create a clip for you though. Start dragging from arrange, hit tab, drop in session.

I would suggest you get in the habit of recording into session view though to really take advantage of live.

nice tip, although I do plan on using the session view when recording, as you suggest...that lesson does it in the arrange view, however
