Best quote since "live should start calling itself desk"Angstrom wrote: don't introduce a new luxury bassoon pack
Let's all contemplate Fruity Loops
I used FL before i switched to ableton.
FABLULOUS instruments. I miss them alot.
but the workflow is really akward.
if FL was availible for mac, I would get it.
i also agree ableton should start to compete. even if they reduced the price of the suite a couple hundred dollars to 700-800, alot more people would be willing to pick it up.
it would also be nice if ableton upped their daw ability too. i too am a victim of lack of crossfades.
ableton is in a good place to take a powerful place in the market, but they dont seem quite agressive enough to move in.

I mean ... please beat the app which is 1/5th of your price.
IE - don't introduce the Cycling collab with a €500 price tag
don't introduce a new luxury bassoon pack
Instead introduce some nice customisation features that are powerful, easy to use and competitively priced.
+1
This quote is a perfect illustration of my hopes and disappointments with Live7...
a friend of mine wrote the first edition of the fl studio bible. he uses fl for production of music for advertising companies and his clients have included microsoft etc... he knows it inside and out.
i've sat with him many times as he's played me new compositions and while it's feature list is absolutely awesome and his trax are excellent, it's workflow just seems to be nothing but a big mess. ulitimately everyones opinion on the workflow of any daw will differ but imo live beats it handsdown for workflow...and obviouly live performance. live just makes a lot more sense!

I won it years ago in a ridiculous contest. I used to use it a lot but not much anymore.
It's packed with features (some very nice shit) and no doubt you can do a lot with it but it's basically a step sequenced drum machine patched into a sequencer in the end. Kinda of odd when working on a song but FL devotees will beg to differ.
Anyway Live is much more attractive to me has a performance app to get something going really fast.

no no no and no.
live isnt a daw. its a live performance tool with a limited crippled daw ability.
they should focus on that.
its not called desk. yet.

its not made by "the people behind fl".
R.I.P
Renoise was originally written from the code of another tracker called NoiseTrekker, made by Juan Antonio Arguelles Rius (Arguru). The then unnamed Renoise project was initiated by Eduard Mueller (Taktik) and Zvonko Tesic (Phazze) during December 2000. As discussed in this NoError article the development team planned to take tracking software into a new standard of quality, enabling tracking scene composers to make audio of the same quality as other existing professional packages, while still keeping the proven Fast Tracker-like layout. By early 2002 stable versions (such as 1.27) were available. Over the years the development team has grown, including Paul Rogalinski (Pulsar), Martin Sandve Alnes (Martinal) and Simon Finne (Blackis), in order to expand on features, port to Mac OS X, and maintain the website.
Afaik argu also worked a bit with discodsp and many other things.Argu, External Developer (Deceased June 2007)

a couple of afternoons, some demo songs and it didn't start to look odd at all, really interested to see what others think, cos' as you know, we think it's sick, the arrangement quickness factor is too quick, it rips !
We didn't want to get into another daw either, but it's ... sick !
The sound quality is (sorry, once again) . . . sick !

renoise rocks. especially for stuff like breakcore. venetian snares is using it
I use it for making loops and breaky/complex things. I prefer ableton for psytrance though.
I put a dollar in a change machine, nothing changed.
