What feature will most likely be in Live 8...
things like that depress me really - that curves is so far ahead of session automation suggests everyone uses it as a bloody linear baselogictools replacement which is depressingdoc holiday wrote:the fact that session automation is loosing show more users are not looking for 'live' features.
it's a sequencer, we need this.
but then this is a small poll

well, curves is pretty important, it's not like its a weird esoteric thing only for symphonic bassoon arrangers.
Anyone turning a continuous controller has their work affected by it.
If you look at the results you get from a knob twiddle, using parameter thinning or not, neither of them is particularly representative of what you just did. One looks like a ramp and the other looks like a staircase.

what is good about twiddling your knobs if you can't record it in session anyway?Angstrom wrote:well, curves is pretty important, it's not like its a weird esoteric thing only for symphonic bassoon arrangers.

Oh indeed, I totally agree - but it's not like curves are incredibly esoteric, that's all I'm saying.doc holiday wrote:what is good about twiddling your knobs if you can't record it in session anyway?Angstrom wrote:well, curves is pretty important, it's not like its a weird esoteric thing only for symphonic bassoon arrangers.

I'll happily have curvy automation in session with hidable tracks that can go into track folders with arrangement clips please.
On toast.

yummmy
dont think i dont like curves!
agreed - I definitely want curves
I just wanted everyone to be forming picket lines around Ableton HQ shouting slogans and waving banners with caricatures depicting Gerhard and Robert with devil horns above captions like "Make Session automation, not bassons" on them
curves are not quite so emotive
unless they are these kind of curves

100 points to anyone who actually saw that there were words above that picture

Been asking for this ONE FEATURE since Live 4! It can't be that difficult. I'm really hoping it FINALLY makes into 8.
Warp a variable-tempo (i.e. human) and/or changing time-signature track and have that track's tempo and time signature control the master tempo in session view.
Not all DJs play monotonous constant-tempo 4/4!

How about renaming one of the scenes to this time signature + tempo?hambone1 wrote:Been asking for this ONE FEATURE since Live 4! It can't be that difficult. I'm really hoping it FINALLY makes into 8.

I already do that. But it's only useful when transitioning instantly between tracks with large tempo differences. Otherwise, I crossfade and ramp the tempo up or down with a BCR knob or FCB pedal.hoffman2k wrote:How about renaming one of the scenes to this time signature + tempo?hambone1 wrote:Been asking for this ONE FEATURE since Live 4! It doesn't help the master tempo and time signature vary during the track, though.
And I still can't warp a track and have the track retain the original tempo fluctuations and variations, so that my audio, video, and lighting loops stay synched.
Autowarp works brilliantly for me, even with tracks with varying tempo, so if Live can identify the beginning of every measure, it should be pretty easy for it to figure the original fluctuating tempo, embed it in the clip, and have the option to use that tempo to control the master tempo when that clip is launched.
