OT - Ms Pinky Vs. ?

haven't seen an up to date discussion on Ms Pinky, they've got this Interdimensional Wrecked System, users are putting out max/msp patches, lots has happened since I last checked it out.

oh, and $99!!!!

then there's Serato and the others, which I think are more DJ oriented, I'm just interested in scratching and wrecking sounds in and out of Live.

any tips appreciated.

yeah, totally. I can tell what he did, got me thinking. skip the foreplay I can do that much and probably more by the end of this weekend with Ms Pinky.

word of advice, don't troll on children. same dude that brought us LiveAPI, great idea, no follow through, he made a huge noise about it, disappeared and the project is still barely making headway. lotsa noise, no substance.

b0unce, you whore the music forums, what's the buzz? catch anything? for $99 it's worth checking out, even just for a controller.

mrs pinky looks like the best solution to me. once you're in that max realm anything goes, right ? ... plus that API business.

anyways, are you going to try and do some voodoo with max & api ?

shit. the truth hurts.

at lunch I can either go buy Ms Pinky or take the monome to the plastics shop.

I think the Live API hooks are where monkeyboy can insert some voodoo, getting the clip parameters for looping and whatnot but why not just send a midi note to indicate that?

but yeah, rewire audio and midi back and forth between Live and max/msp, the implications are astounding. I gotta shoot for a monome/Ms Pinky/Live/midi guitar mess of a setup, one man noise band.

I love Ms. Pinky. I like that you get Torq for free. When I ordered the guy actually called me to see if I wanted some Torq vinyl in addition to the Pinky vinyl, and he sent more than I paid for. Great guy.

gaijin1717 - very cool news. yeah, the guy at Robotspeak spoke well of the developer and Ms Pinky as well. thanks for the heads up!! btw that event that monkey god spoke of looks pretty cool, I might have to hit that up, I should, but then again time with Pinky will also be great!!

I'd like to stay in the play and have fun mindset for the first weekend at least. get the control end working then patch msp help patches into it and freak myself out. I will definitely look to get Live-Pinky interaction. last night going home thinking about making a timecode reader from scratch and looking at my gear, it made me sad to think I'd spend even one weekend dorking out on FFTs of vinyl and not making music. very cool, I'll look into it. I did buy Ms Pinky, can't try it for another 2 hours 20 minutes, just having that kind of control into max/msp will be teh bomb.

Patel - we'll see, it'll be interesting to pipe audio from Live into max/msp and have Ms Pinky tweak it out. then use other Live clips to send midi data to max/msp as control data. that's my plan from a complete n00b perspective.

$100 for a controller like this?!? no brainer.
