toggling clip/instrument and session/arrangement (midi)

Post by ultra » Mon Apr 21, 2008 6:20 pm

is there any way to map the clip view/instrument view selecter and session view/arrangement view selecter to midi, besides using the mackie/logic control protocol?

edit: i'm also interested in selecting tracks by using left/right via midi.

i'm trying to avoid intermediate software because of any potential delays, bugs, or anything else.

i'm building a midi controller to control live and i'm able to send any kind of message i want.

i would use the mackie protocol but i don't like the way it's set up because it uses notes instead of CC#'s, making channel 1 useless for instruments. i'd like to be able to use any of the 16 channels at any time.

i've been looking at script editing but i can't see what might need to be changed, if this is possible.

i think i've found the solution to my problem. using mackie control does indeed make midi useless in channel 1 for anything besides mackie control, however, i can just send the rest of the data on another input. problem solved :)

can you ask more specifically please?

do you want to know how i make the midi controller, or how to implement mackie control from any controller?

... how to implement mackie control from any controller. Hmm, but bomes midi translator seems to be the easier solution for me.

ok. you simply choose mackie as your control surface, assign it to an input, and look up the mackie control protocol and send out the notes that are listed there. bome's might be easier. personally i'm looking to avoid it.
