Hi there,
When I use 8 channels in Ableton Live 7.0.3 with on each track an instrument e.g. Analog, Drum Rack or Sampler with some effects e.g. Pingpong delay, beat-repeat, reverb, etc. I get cracks in my sound and the beat is out of sync compared to turntables/CD-players.
My first idea was the latency...But if I set the buffer size according to the manual, I am not able to put the simulator on the recomended 80%. This gives major disturbances again. Now i have put the buffer size to 1500 and still got the problem. The CPU-meter sometimes bounces from 80 tol 1 or 2%, but even with low CPU rates i have the same problem.
I use:
Ableton Live 7.0.3
Apple Macbook Pro, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4Gb memory and a harddisk with 160Gb, 5400rpm
Allen & Heath Xone 3D mixer
Edirol PCR30 midi controller
The problem can be in Ableton 7.0.3, I have read some topics of people having latency problems with this version, but since my setup is quite basic concerning CPU usage imho, i doubt this.
Another explanation can be hardware, but I also think my Macbook pro should be strong enough to do the job.
The third explanation is the soundcard of the Xone 3D. Some people say this is not the very best one and not the fastest one. I changed my setup with another soundcard, Native Instruments Audio Control 1 and I have the same problem.
As you can understand I 'm not sure what the cause is and how I can solve the problem. I think it's Ableton Live 7.0.3, but I don't understand why. Is the CPU usage so much higher than previoous versions, or are some instruments or effects too demanding?
Hope you can help me on my way...
Cheers White
latency problem in my set up: who is the blame?
Hi,
please try, if turning Airport off solves the problem.
Best,
Jörg
