I'd like to think all those bands you listed are simply rock bands but if you want to sub-classify them, great.
If we are on the subject of defining I would consider Caribou anything besides an indie rock band that shows some psychedelic qualities.
I also wouldn't consider Stereolab "newer". They have been around for nearly 20 years!

I´m german, I would say krautrock is a german word and means german bands from the seventies as there are: Can, Guru-Guru, Kraan, Nektar, Embryo, Grobschnitt and Jazzrockbands like Wolfang Dauner´s et cetera and Klaus Doldinger. Tell me if I´m wrong...
