Sniffio,as a proof of concept have you checked out Ambiloop?(pc only sadly)which lets you do just this!Even better its free at the mo,look for the Yahoo group for it and get the Beta Asio version:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ambiloop/

If the Dev could make a VST of it then i would never have to leave Live again... 8)

Hi! I agree with Sniffio. Ambiloop looks interesting but if audio could be overdubbed it would just rock! and i'm sure that all guitar players here will agree! :P

Another cool feature for this would be something i used to use in Cubase. I would select Over-dub mode and have each take automatically set itself on a seperate track. In Live's case, each take would be on a seprate clip even though it is still one 'set'.

to Former Pharaoh>> you can do that in cubase ??? over-dub-audio and make it seprate in other tracks ?? that's lot better than I expected.

The think i like about Ambiloop,is the ability to have for e.g. the last note in a loop "overlap" into the beginning,it just sounds more natural and satisfying, espeically with long sustained guitar figures than "linear" loops.

To Sniffio
Yeah, each take would be on a "folder" and you can select the take(s) you like. It's been years since i used cubase. I don't miss it much.
