Another album project completed using Live and Reason!

Post by Rahlo » Tue May 20, 2008 3:22 am

Whaddup ya'll,

After many delays, my latest album entitled Out of the Silent Planet has been released! I did 80% of the production using Live (operator and impulse were used extensively), and the rest using Reason—both standalone and rewired into Live. The whole joint was mixed and mastered in Live—a first for me, no doubt.

A couple of things make this album different from anything else I've done in that (1) it's mostly an instrumental joint, and instead of strictly sampling I actually played on this one (though I did sample too :) ), and (2) this entire album is based on and inspired by a work of science fiction that was written by C.S. Lewis (author of the Chronicles of Narnia) and first published in 1938. I basically tried to score certain events in the book, and write some music to accompany the images that formed in my mind as I was reading and re-reading it.

If any of you cats are up for it, you can go to here to cop a listen. Just navigate over to the audio page once you get to the site. Judging from the initial response, the favorites so far are The Abduction, Dancing with the Hrossa, and Oyarsa of Malacandra.

aight, thanks for reading this far!
peace,

rahlo

As usual, this sounds really good Rahlo.
My favorites are 1, 2 and the Rooibos phreestyle.
Definitely sounds like a score to me, although I never read the book.
Keep on thge rocking beats !

If the sounds were lotion I'd rub it on my skin.

I'd do the heel of my feet later, when I'm sitting down for a while.

Man, much love to all you cats for taking the time to swing by and give a listen! To say the least, I'm really surprised at how much positive feedback I've received overall to this album so far.

It wouldn't be stretching it to say that this community of Live users has played a very significant role in what I do musically. There are some genius level cats on this forum who freely share their knowledge with the rest of us, and I'm one who benefits much from the tips, tricks, work arounds and advice that constantly inundate this forum.

As a small token of thanks to the peeps who've supported my music over the last few years, I'm giving away iPods to two of the first 50 people to buy this new joint. Thanks again for the love, ya'll!
peace,

Thanks for your purchase, and also for your words John.

DJ Shadow? Wow! It's funny—I know about him, but haven't heard any of his stuff. I've read in different mags that endtroducing is supposed to be a classic. I should pick it up.

Thanks again, bruh!
