MIDI Efect: Transposer

Post by baseinstinct » Mon May 26, 2008 2:38 am

With Pitch effect you turn a knob. Here you would play on midi keyboard.

The track with this midi insert would behave as follows:

1.
If Monitoring would be active, keys pressed on midi keyboard would not play but transpose the midi clip currently playing on this track

2.
if no key pressed - simply no transposition.

3.
if armed for recording - transposed notes could overwrite the existing ones, on the fly.

This MIDI effect would have to be monophonic and placed as the first effect by default.

In Roland Grooveboxes and Workstations there is a dedicated button which triggers such a function and it is called, guess, Transpose.

are you aware you can midi map a key range to the Pitch control dial?

press command+M to go into midi map mode.

press and hold the first key in the key range (on your remote control keyboard)
then press the last key.

set the minimum and maximum values in the midi map.

voila.
