WISH/TO DO/MUST BE LIST LIVE 8 (NOT 9, 10, 11...42)

Post by tano » Sun May 25, 2008 11:00 pm

1) MIDI From, To, Channel - select MIDI IN/OUT/CHANNEL, not only 1 or All

Image

2) Follow Action - something like Go To (type row and column number, clip name, scene number...)
(Clip1 Go To 5 - Clip5 Go To 8 - Clip8 Go To 3 etc.)
or simply drag (pick) to clip (like pick whip in After Effects)

Image

3) Envelopes Automation Absolute/Relative - MIDI Ctrl are ABSOLUTE a VST parameters are RELATIVE.
Add button Absolute/Relative for envelopes. And... !!! SNAP ENVELOPE POINTS TO GRID !!!

Image

4) Envelope Point Position, Value - type numerical values. Point position and value
(value can be MIDI 0-127 or VST parameter 12.5dB, 27%, -4.468idontknowwhat...)

Image

5) Draw Mode More Types - pencil/line/exponencial/bell/sine/square/triangle/saw...

Image

6) X-Y Control MIDI Map - MIDI map for this little yellowgreen spot

Image

7) Note Position, Value, Length - same as envelope point, numerical values for position, value and length

Image

8,9,10...) dual monitor support (e.g. 1 session view window, 2 MIDI Note Editor),
vertical resizable clips, show multiple automation envelopes in session view,
manual MIDI mapping, display position switch between timecode/bars-beats-sixteenths,
hide or minimize master track or any tracks (session view),
Auto Reset Peak Level - After 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s...,
input numerical values everywhere (knobs, faders, envelope points, notes...), follow action for scenes too

ok, that's all for now, thanks for comments, ideas and sorry for my bad english

nice summup, Ill add more bezier type curves, and the ability to get midi infos from audio tracks (some audio plugins generate midi)

but really needed is the Relative/absolute issue, would love to record directly automation in session view.....

Can we get Tempo to the thousandths

170.254

hundredths is great for lower tempos...

but noticed while mixing drum and bass and producing some metal tunes.. this could be a whole lot tighter.

Now we are able to select only horizontally all the points from top to bottom (OMG!)

What if we want to select very specific points??
+ to be able to select point from different areas by holding the shift key (like most sequencers)

Also about Tano's #4 i think something like that will be even better

+ Undo EVEN AFTER SAVE
+ Undo History pop event list
+ Organize Bookmarks or just allow renaming
Now it adds all the dir

END MIDI 'Snapshots' of your midi controller...only knobs that are touched should be sending their data to an instrument! Live is the only DAW on earth that does this...it ruins my 8 vsti setup for live performance looping.

Yeah, we'll have all that.

6 is there though. You just have to assign the x axis and y axis parameters separately.

of course you can assign CC to any VST parametr for X and Y
! BUT NOT ASSIGN MIDI CC TO POSITION XY SPOT (independently of VST parameter) !

and another wish: MULTIPROCESSOR/MULTICORE RENDERING (my athlon mp is still on 50%)

I would also like improved Quantize (independent swing percentage control on each track is a good start as well as Groove Quantize, better key command control of the input quantize we have including quantizing at 32nd notes), Clip muting, Quick Groups of faders and track parameters, and the ability to change I/O and monitoring parameters on multiple tracks simultaneously.

As far as 'absolutely critical' features, points 1), 3) and 8) are no-brainers.

But editing automation curves is even more crucial (FL Studio's way of having a little handle in the middle of a line to adjust the curve amount, and right-clicking the curve points to adjust the curve type are, by far, the easiest method I've ever seen).

Of course, I don't code audio software, so I have no idea how hard any of this would be to implement. I'm loving the sidechaining and drumracks in Live 7 though :D

Insert Effect Dry/Wet fader

Post by tano » Sat Jun 14, 2008 9:56 pm

Insert Effect Dry/Wet fader (with numerical value and MIDI Map)
- for effects without dry/wet function (in this case Waldorf D-Pole)

One more: Click on note and copy all the clips part on this note. This would be extremaly useful to manupulating drum parts. I know, i can drag all the part, but to drag two octaves, in small zoom view for example is nor very comfortable.

1. Follow Actions "When Clip Ends" option:
With a time field added, represented as 00:00:00 for hours, minutes, seconds. Then there could be some time before the follow action is executed & the next clip plays.

2. Surround & *quad* support for live performances.

3. Clip Envelopes enabled for un-warped clips.

4. Tap-Tempo buttons added to all the Live effects that sync to tempo, or which repeat/modulate/etc., independent of session master tempo.
