HELP!

First off, I'm clueless about PC music production, but I'm trying. Right now I have an Edirol PCR50 midi keyboard and UA25 audio/midi interface (both USB connections) which I'm not even sure I can use together for Ableton music production on the account they both have their own midi interface capability.

I'm having trouble hooking them both up. Should they harmonise ok if I hook them up to my Windows XP DAW being they both have midi devices in them? Or should I just find an all in one audio/midi interface keyboard and get rid of this double device confusion?

You're fine. Most people here use multiple USB controllers without problems.
You should just be able to plug them in and go... What's the problem?

Thanks for replying. Weird things start happening when I connect both devices up. The computer starts shutting down random-ly. Actually maybe this is a PC issue and nothing to do with the devices. I'll investigate further.

My point is actually more about the PCR and UA both being equipped with midi as opposed to multiple USB devices.

Will the PCR and UA conflict because of their built in midi capabilities?

Never saw a midi issue shutting down a computer in years of work as a tech into studio environnements.

It's prolly related to your hardware config or capacity to handle this.

Post a bit more about your config and we'll be able to help out a bit more

There should be no reason why those 2 devices can't work together. Have you downloaded the very latest drivers for both devices from edirol. It could be you are using old out of date drivers.

If the problems persist, try usign 1 device at a time and see if you still get windows shut downs. If so, you had best get in touch with edirols customer support.

Ive generally found editol hard/software to be quite reliable in the past.

You may also be able route your keyboard into the sound card with a standard midi cable to free up your usb ports, works with my set up anyway. (Soundcard and BCR2000 via usb and the MK461 (powered using mains adaptor) plugs into the 'midi in' hole in the soundcard)

I had to do this as both the MK461 and the Fast Track were using phantom power and sucking all the juice.
