editing tempo max/min in live 6

Post by thesmallisbeautiful » Wed Jul 02, 2008 6:04 am

I am using an mpd 24 to control live when I perform.

I would like to assign a knob to the tempo control, but because it is 128 steps to adjust the tempo way more steps, it ends up with a decimal point bpm which doesn't work for me. I was wondering if there was a way to limit the maximum and minimum tempo in live so that it only goes 128 steps from, say, 60-188 bpm so that each step is equal to 1 bpm.

Is this possible in live 6? Is it possible in live 7? I might upgrade just for this feature alone if so.

in both live 6 and 7 you should find these settings in the MIDI mapping pane.

I have had problems with this method though.. sometimes it works correctly on the way up but not on the way down.

Thanks dude.

I was sure this was possible, but I was trying to find it without having my mpd plugged in, which would have helped.

So far it's working for me on the way up and the way down, hopefully that sticks.

Funny, I just figured this out last week with one of the endless knobs on my mpd32.
Literally, just assign the knob to the tempo (make sure thats its the "Main Area" because theres also a "Fine Control" area). And then in the control browser just add 60 to whatever your bottom bpm number is and limit the Max bpm to that number.
Live is lovely

Oops. You're right, I messed that up.
It's actually add 120 to your lowest tempo value.
