BCD-3000?

Post by cram33 » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:03 am

Hi,

Anyone has some experience with the Behringer BCD-3000? Or the 2000?
I would like to have all-in-one solution for my DJ gigs. Now I use my laptop, BCR-2000 for controls (wich I will keep using), my padKontrol for triggering tracks and my Motu 828 for the sound and pre-listening. First I had my BCF-2000 for volume control but it was simply too much! So something like the BCD looks nice, in comb with the BCR ...
Whats the real difference between the BCD3000 and -2000?

Thanks guys!

Stick to your MoTu - the interface of the BCD is crap. Anyway, the controlling options work fine for me. Enough buttons and rotarys (NOT endless!) and it fits fine in my UDG record bag (same width as a vinyl sleeve)

Thanks 4 your reply.

The thing is that I want an additional audio-interface for gigging. My Motu should stay in the studio enviroment, so I want something to carry along and thats quick to set up. Don't want to disconnect all my audiocables to the Motu every time....and worse, re-connect them when i want to compose. Thats why the BCD looks nice. Audio quality must be just good enough for live sound, no use in studio intended.

I see the problem in the reliabilty of the interface. Happend more than once to me that I got crackling and stuttering in the sound...needing to reboot my Mac. And this is a common well known problem of the BCD. Some say it does not happen on Windows XP machines...can´t tell but I am not trusting any longer in this bitchy thing. ESPECIALLY not in live situations.

Well, I do have an XP laptop and my Motu failed me twice at a live gig....
Ok, but do you think that the BCD is any good for Ableton Live? Not intending to use Traktor at all. For example, can I use the Jog wheels to emulate a backspin? Thanks so far!

This question shows me that you never really worked with Ableton Live before? (Don´t want to be offending)...
There is no "backspin" feature in Ableton Live...you can not scratch with it. You can not even cue in the classic way while turning the jog wheels.
There are ways to use them, but they are different from what they are ment to be in e.g. Traktor.

Oh, and the LED´s on the buttons won´t work under Ableton Live. I´ve written a applescript / midipipe tool which solves this - but it only works on a mac. But it would be possible to do the same using Bome´s on XP ... but nobody did yet.

Yes yes, I am a Live freak, just didn't know about the scratch effect thing. I figured Live wasn't able to do so, tho...but you never know.
Shame about the LED's! I read your post about the script...think I have to dig into Bomes thn!

So the jog wheels are useless for me. What about the EQ section? Is it a built in EQ (Behringer), or can I assign any parameter to it?

The nice thing of the BCD is, that i can connect some external players to it.

Any other DJ-midicontroller recommendations?

Some say that the new (!!! not these fisher price ones!) are quite good if you are searching for an integrated interface. Or take a look on the VCI´s from Vestax.
