MYSPACE SUCKS! what's the best alternative for musicians?
So I really don't like myspace for many reasons. Just a few: slow servers, annoying ads, owned by newscorp, can't upload more than 6 songs, etc.
I am hoping for an alternative to myspace, a similar place to easily make a free page, upload (hopefully) as much music as you want and avoid all the unwanted crap that goes along with myspace. I've seen many, but not sure which way to go. Some of them might be gone tomorrow, some might not get any traffic, others might be just what I'm looking for.
What's your favorite? Why?

I hate myspace so much!!
I don't think it is so important. Try facebook, although I am not a huge fan there....
SOmething new will be along very soon I am sure. That is the nature of the internet... People get bored. Try youtube. Try anything but myspace.
Its slow, it is low quality, it is filled with advertisements, it is swamped with bands anyways...
Arrg....
myspace
blah!!

too many lasers...
Lately, I am meeting more and more non-musicians that have stopped buying CDs and just listen to myspace when they want to listen to new music. Not a judgment, just an observation.

all free sites have some caveat or other, whether that be low bit rate mp3, limited storage space or whatever. They are more for music than the social element, although you can 'add friends' etc.
soundclick - unlimited number of tunes, but 128 KBps only for non subs.
dmusic - 75 MB free space for non subs. no bitrate limits.
mp3.com - reincarnation, I think 100 MB of upload space, 192 Kbps mp3.

check out http://alonetone.com/
i find it a good place to host our music that we want to give way for free
it works with itunes podcast and face book
plus it has a stand alone player that you can inbed into web sites/emails/blogs
unlimited uploads too
pretty cool site.
http://www.looperman.com/
i like that community .. good place to get feedback on songs your working on
you can upload 50 tracks... its also a great place to find royalty free loops and samples.. the site revolves around it.. everyone can upload as many loops/samples as they want and everyone can freely download as many loops/samples as they want and use them in their tracks how ever they wish.
they also have an acapella section but its new.
we have also been toying with http://www.reverbnation.com/
seems like it may be cool but i havn't started to really dive into it yet

Yes! Please keep em coming!
I love to hear what all you have to say about this!
I do figure there are caveats for each different free service. I use myspace, and that's really how I know that I personally think it sucks (see above re: some reasons for myspace suckage).
I started this thread to help sort them out, to weigh the pros and cons of each.
