New GUI for Ableton Live... New Look...

Post by musiclee » Tue Aug 19, 2008 2:57 pm

how bout a nice, modern, "fresh" look for version 8.0 ?

something a bit more colorful, a nice silvery metallic look, not gray,
how about VU meters with green, changing gradually to orange, red, etc..

something easy on the eyes but modern, like logic, cubase, etc,

Live's GUI to me looks a bit "old", and outdated.

and of course keep the current "Classic" look as well for those that like it....

what you guys think?

as i said, keep option of going back to "classic" GUI as well

i'm not saying totally change GUI, just color scheme a bit, maybe more modern faders, so it does not look so "stick" like, DOS like :-)

search prior threads on this, many folk love the simple GUI (i can't stand GUI's like logic), though there are complaints about the GUI for the more complicated instruments.

personally; no thanks..

but even more important; Live's GUI holds a major part in marketing..
the GUI is Live.. they're not going to change a winning team..

I'm for making colors more customizable via skins using an easier method.

I'm not for a total change though. Something in smaller steps. I'd go for more customization for the user.

Two issues I have with the look:

1. More control over newly recorded clip colors. Default brown clip all the time is kind of annoying at least change it up some.

2. Arrangement View clip waveform view needs more colors than Black and White. Varied clip colors help me identify tracks easier.

A color for the track itself would be really really helpful. :?

No! Live has the most beautiful GUI out there! Simple and elegant. If you want real looking faders, get a Neve desk... =)
Live + M4L, MacBookPro & Ultralite mk3. Plugins from Softube, Soundtoys, Eventide, 2CAudio, Cytomic, AudioDamage, OhmForce, FabFilter, SonicCharge, Waves, MadronaLabs, NI and ExpertSleepers. Oh, and a bunch of hardware... =D
