bass players - ElectroHarmonix micro synth or ?
bass players - ElectroHarmonix micro synth or ?
I finally found some of these (two) locally sold, the shop opens at noon tomorrow. there's this and the Qtron+ which I'm not as impressed with but the Q tron also works GREAT on regular guitar.
or is there another bass pedal out there to tweak stuff out?
looking for ranges of sound, funky to electronica.
already have the bass packs for the PodXT and might score a Zoom B2.
any tips appreciated. I've watched youtubes on all these, wondering what else might be out there.
thanks!

micro synth is pretty sweet.
i used to have a Q tron too
one of the things i did in my old band was use 2 amps.
1 was my clean and the other was my dirty plus a volume pedal.
i could tweak the hell out of my sound with my Qtron but still have the punch and tone of my bass.. it worked really good for what i was doing at the time.

+1 on the mutron 3 (even if homage to bootsy alone)

I like to run my bass through a Z.Vex Wooly Mammoth and then a Moogerfooger Lowpass filter (which has envelope following capabilities.) It's a simple setup but it gives a great sound. Optionally adding a Moogerfooger Ringmod or Freqbox works well too.

you guys are killing me, just as I'm about to go pick it up.
still think I'll get the micro synth, more voicing options and the dirty dirty square wave! oh god, I'm headed down the pedal whoring path, lots of killer youtubes out there with these devices.
thanks for the tips!
edit - oh man, the moogerfooger... shit!!!

it's all good, they all have different flavors and assuming you use them, you'll find an application and purpose for them all. Besides, your doing the global economy justice buy buying something.......

a Mutron+ a nice Fuzzbox = instant Funk...
although I own,use and love my EHX unit..
if you're picking dynamics are all over the place ...add a Boss Bass Comp pedal...
they're nice and Cheap...
btw I'd like to have all them MoogerFoogers...
each is very versatile at what it does...
and they sound fucking great...shame there's no screwed up distortion on that line...

dude the microsynth kicks ass! you wont be disappointed. you can get the filter to do similar things to the qtron, although im dont remember if it has an actual envelope follower. But the square fuzz and filters sound great. you have many tonal options to work with there.
of course you can be tantalized by other products, but first things first - get the microsynth. i wish i had one.
one caveat: well actually two: those little sliders break easily, so be careful. EHX will repair the unit, but it's a hassle. The other one is DON'T use the wrong power supply; my friend accidentally plugged in the wrong wall wart and fried his microsynth.
