the thing you have to consider with the monome is that there is absolutely no risk in trying it out, sure it's expensive and you've never got to play with one yet, so buy it and you might love it and if you don't love it you can sell it any time for exactly the same price you paid OR a profit if you're that kinda guy. you won't even lose your shipping, if you pay 550 after shipping then you can easily sell it for 550. so just jump on it as long as you aren't gonna be missing out on rent this month and see if it's for you.

agreed, i have enough gear that i use. the monome is risking geting another piece i may not find space for. I may find it quite useful but i don't need it. the reason i purchased it was i've been on the waiting list for a long long time, and it has a really high resale value. so hopefully i haven't got much to lose.

I don't think you'll regret getting it. I've thrown several fits on here starting from the last public sale when my finger was sitting on the refresh button for 15 minutes before and due to a confusing (to me) link scheme I missed out because they sold out in 2 minutes right through my whining about them taking forever to make mine on the waiting list. I think I've crapped all over every monome related topic on here since January. You'd think I'd be rejoicing when I finally got the "it's here" email.

But I decided months ago that the end of September would mark the end of my irresponsible music purchases. Then all these great deals and now products got announced. I then realized it will never end. I figured if I could pass on the monome then I should be pretty good at resisting other things that caught my eye/ears.

I'm proud to say I haven't made any music related purchases in the last 10 days. Hey, it's a start.

nice dude, good luck with the frugal path.

i have yet to be so wise. i'm still in the market for an analog synthesizer.

i'm a programmer and a music nut. i love open source software. it seems the momome is an ideal fit on paper. we'll see in practice.

My 64 Monome has just arrived! its about a 1/3 smaller than i expected, which is good for gigs, and the led buttons seem really solid. The whole thing is lovely. i now need some free time to experiment...

yeah, small.. I looked at my 128 and thought about if it were cut in half how tiny that would seem.

I would kill a baby kitten to get my hands on a 256 though.

im waiting for these babies to be released, the korg nano kontrol, buy 4 of them and your have 72 buttons and 72 knobs/faders to play with for a total of only £165 quid!

You could build a tray for them out of wood with no gaps as the usb socket is on the left hand side.

Though the monomone looks posh, don't think it's worth the money...??

+1 for it being smaller than it appears on youtube videos. Along the same lines this is why I no longer feel inadequate after streaming so much porn.

It's a perfect size, built to be held and played in your hands, hence the
accelerometers. It's the only one that's powered over USB too, thinking about getting a second now that the list is freed up again. Give me two 64's over a 128 any day.
