Re: Targus Numeric Keypad as Controller?
As the person who made the custom QWERTY keyboard you mentioned, I think it would be great! I actually have one of those Targus keypads in my basement that I'd stuck away, thinking it might be useful someday. Thanks for the inspiration to possibly pull it back out!fmpfilms wrote:Ok, so most of us have seen this:

But what about this?:

Same principle, but on a smaller scale. I feel like it would be useful for triggering scenes or effects.

I thought that changes with the (make of) keyboard.globalgoon wrote:press more than 4 keys simultaneously, only 4 will be recognised...
Anyone planning on using two keyboards on a Windows machine, do not expect them to be recognised as separate devices - the only way I know of to do this is to write your own HID driver for the keyboard.
p.s. I painted a keyboard. Beautiful it was. Just funny to see one in a variety of bright (Live-related) colours. I spilt water all over it. I haven't bought another keyboard to replace the guts ... no room on my desk.
i bought a kensington wireless keypad for this reason, but the build quality is terrible so i never use it. avoid them if you can. incidently does anyone know about any wireless number pads that don't look like they'll fall apart, and preferably work via bluetooth rather than a dongle?

Microsoft has made some code available for developers to use so that multiple mice can be used but guess what no one that I have ever seen is using it. I personally think that two mice type devices should be standard. We have two hands don't we? Picture being able to use two mice or little pointer type things one on each finger to tweak two knobs on a synth with out having to drag around big mid controllers. So simple yet so far away.Johnny Beat wrote:Somebody definitely should write some drivers for Windows recognizing different keyboards as different devices. It would be great.

25 bucks.
Anyone tried it yet? Are the white keys arround the arrow keys static or do they send stuff? Key response?
Is there anyway to have a 2nd (or 3rd) keyboard on the Mac be locked into a modifier key without having to tape a key down? In other words, have the OS recognize that particular keyboard as permanently having "Caps Lock" on, or "Opt Cmd Down" when it's plugged in?
Would changing the language key-mapping work? Like say, change the ASCII set of a second keyboard to use a different character set, of say Japanese? Would Live recognize this as well?
This thread, btw, is genius.
