I don't think im ever hitting more than four keys at the same time. Even if I where to try and fire four clips at a time when playing live most of the time I have a bar to select them.

But what about this?:

Same principle, but on a smaller scale. I feel like it would be useful for triggering scenes or effects.
As the person who made the custom QWERTY keyboard you mentioned, I think it would be great! I actually have one of those Targus keypads in my basement that I'd stuck away, thinking it might be useful someday. Thanks for the inspiration to possibly pull it back out!

I thought that changes with the (make of) keyboard.

Anyone planning on using two keyboards on a Windows machine, do not expect them to be recognised as separate devices - the only way I know of to do this is to write your own HID driver for the keyboard.

p.s. I painted a keyboard. Beautiful it was. Just funny to see one in a variety of bright (Live-related) colours. I spilt water all over it. I haven't bought another keyboard to replace the guts ... no room on my desk.

i bought a kensington wireless keypad for this reason, but the build quality is terrible so i never use it. avoid them if you can. incidently does anyone know about any wireless number pads that don't look like they'll fall apart, and preferably work via bluetooth rather than a dongle?

Somebody definitely should write some drivers for Windows recognizing different keyboards as different devices. It would be great.

Stupid question: what paint would one use to colour the keys from one of these badboys?

I'm pretty much sold on that 'Plum' board, and want to colour it in!

I used acrylic paints, because they're cheap enough and come in small quantities. They will chip though, unless you cover them in a protective layer - I can't remember the name of it at the moment... varnish?

They call it Clear Coat.

I'm pretty sure that you can get it in spray cans these days.

Microsoft has made some code available for developers to use so that multiple mice can be used but guess what no one that I have ever seen is using it. I personally think that two mice type devices should be standard. We have two hands don't we? Picture being able to use two mice or little pointer type things one on each finger to tweak two knobs on a synth with out having to drag around big mid controllers. So simple yet so far away.

I just need something for faster program changes. This EDIT>PROGRAM #> 1> 2>EDIT business is taking too long. Preferably with an LED screen. I may just go for the Evolution UC-33 over the superior ReMote Zero for this purpose alone.

Is there anyway to have a 2nd (or 3rd) keyboard on the Mac be locked into a modifier key without having to tape a key down? In other words, have the OS recognize that particular keyboard as permanently having "Caps Lock" on, or "Opt Cmd Down" when it's plugged in?

Would changing the language key-mapping work? Like say, change the ASCII set of a second keyboard to use a different character set, of say Japanese? Would Live recognize this as well?

This thread, btw, is genius.
