Tracks in Session View
nathannn wrote:session is fun to play with sometimes but i really dont take it seriously.
i really would like to find out for myself why people like it so much.
i look at it as a bunch of mini winamps that lack a stop button.
maybe more people do want daw features because they dont take the session view seriously.
how can anyone make a whole track in session?
- I make all my tracks in session view, and then record the session i mix as a track, and tweak the arrangement view after the mix is complete.
It works, most forward thinking artists use session view to complete and sketch out tracks and remixes, it is what makes live unique.
I have all my tracks out on labels as releases, "Mutant Disco" and they are selling very well.
I am also working on a complete album in session view, more news on this as it develops.
Suffice to say Coldcut and Stienski use session view for this too...

lol, try using the little triangles in the master track, you may find it triggers sequences for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!nathannn wrote:i have always found it odd that there is no proper way to sequence clips ins session besides using follow actions (wich really does not sequence).
i guess if they had this then i would use session more.

Re: Tracks in Session View
Same here. Not always, but most often I start by recording my riffs, loops, ideas etc. Then I build a scene that has everything the song will have at it's biggest. Then I duplicate the scene and start taking stuff out. When I soon have all the parts of a song as scenes in Session view, I record them to Arrangement view. After this I start adding details, connecting parts with small stuff etc.audiojunkies wrote:nathannn wrote:session is fun to play with sometimes but i really dont take it seriously.

This being said, although I like session view very much, I still want much more DAW-features.

Along those lines I would like a step record mode for using my qwerty to program drums. I come from a tracker bakground, and noticed how much longer it takes to make grooves using the mouse (my timing on a midi input device is piss poor :p )forge wrote:+1 totally agree!attackmode wrote:I want
- Better accessibility of samples and presets in the browser (via MIDI). Hint: I don't want to touch my mouse!

"what do you really expect in live 8"
1 new pay instrument
1 feature that seems awesome but you could easily live without
1 tweak on an existing effect that doesn't change much
45 new bugs and a promise to fix them soon
a purple dot
a green dot
the edit button disappears again

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Gerhard B. stated that Live will stay @ version 7 at least until 2010 when windows 7 is released - for better compatibility, you know

+3
that is exactly how I work in Live. I too would also apreciate more DAW features. My next step after arrangement view would be to export as a wav file and then finish with a sound editor.
fe real!
