Studio Insurance in the USA

Post by Beatport » Fri Nov 28, 2008 12:22 am

Anyone have their gear insured? Any recommendations for doing so?

I estimate I have about $10k worth of gear and it would be a massive bummer if it disappeared one day. Are their any companies that specialize in this or should I just call up state farm or something?

I just have mine insured as part of my homeowners insurance through State Farm. Wasn't too much extra, though you do need to provide pics, copies of receipts, and serial numbers up front too.

I got a State Farm renters insurance policy the other day. $153 covers $20k of gear for one year. You should ask about a Personal Articles Policy. It might be cheaper.

Somebody on here was mentioning insurance that even covered gear when you are at gigs. No US leads mentioned though. That I would be interested in.
