boring jobs
probably a topic that's been raised before but what are your boring jobs? and more importantly, what do you do to kill time?
I'm currently sat babysitting a PA system at a conference about funding for special needs schools. They have 2 mics. BORED!

I'm in the same boat. My job is super boring, but is one where I have to pretend like I'm busy (also an AV job, by the way). Strong firewall, so internet usage is pretty limited, and I can't have my laptop up, so no music time...
Webcomics help a lot.

Otherwise, try to find some sort of skill you teach yourself from your computer. A language, learn a new program/skill, get an e-sub and read Sound On Sound, hone your chess skills if that's viable, and yeah... forums. Lots of forums. If you can access YouTube, do it and be thankful you can waste your time in such a fun way. I can't get any kind of streaming media here...

i tried to learn icelandic for a while but i find it tricky without suddenly bursting out with garbled icelandic phrases. Raises a few eyebrows

Re: boring jobs
I'm a programmer and I'm really sick of it. I'm doing all I can to pay my bills as a producer, but this is extra-hard in Brazil. Really, believe me - specially when you don't make motherfucking shitty popultar brazilian music.furrybum wrote:probably a topic that's been raised before but what are your boring jobs? and more importantly, what do you do to kill time?
Now, you may be thinking "this guy is nuts, Brazil has Sergio Mendes, João Gilberto, Jorge Ben and all those cool guys!", but you're way off line. These guys are old and no music by them has any attention anymore. Brazilian popular music sucks balls as much as any chart-music from any country you may think of.
Ok, rant over. Truth is, I'd rather produce a shitty popular brazilian band than keep on being a programmer. I hope this answers your question.

o you get used it hehe..beats me wrote:I might be the only one with this problem, but I find when I'm out of work and have the proverbial "time to work on music all day long" I don't get shit done creatively. It's when I have a brain dead or boring job that my free time seems to be filled with working on music.
and i bet thats a very common problem
i give people rides on my pedicab, and i work like 2-4 days a week sometimes 1 sometimes none depending on my mood
my main focus is music.. as of late i have been practicing the drums more than anything. my band is on a performance break so we can chill and focus on writting.
best thing to do is look at music like a job (but one you love)
so sometimes even when your not feeling it fire up the computer and work on something.... tweak some synths, check out some forgoten live sets, practice something, look at porn while you play bass.....
other things i've noticed.. their have been times when i lived with a house full of musicians and we never once played together even though before we moved in together we talked about all the music we would make lol.
check it out!! my new pedicab
it should be here in a week or 2
i had to photoshop the purple because its a custom color so i dont know if thats the exact color... but i sent them that color swatch and this pic. i told em to make it look like that.... oo da pimp... i'm going to go get my stero system for it on wednesday... if any one has any recomendations for a descent cheap car amp (i'd like to pump 2 speakers and a small woofer) my battery is 26 amp hours.
i'm totally stoked!!! mwhahahaha[/img]
