Reminder: BACK UP YOUR DATA!
5 months ago, I replaced the hard drive in my Mac Book with one of the newer Hitachi 200gb 7200 rpm SATA drives. It was nice and fast and big, like me.
A few days ago, I got the dreaded "White screen of death" upon boot. It took a few tries to restart, but it eventually did. I immediately backed everything up to my external drive. Yesterday, the thing completely took a shit. I can't get it to do anything. It failed all the tests I threw at it, and my Windows box gives errors.
Dead drive? No problem, I've got a BACKUP! Also, the drive is still under Hitachi's warranty. So in a week I'm going to have a brand new drive and all my data intact. All I have to do when I get the replacement is pop the drive in, install software, and drag/drop all my crap.
So let this be a reminder... BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!

since I found a copy of Acronis Image 9 lying there in the office I took it and installed on my lappie, so evey month or after major changes in the system -which I rarely do anyway- I'll do a complete image of the main HD and I do incremental backups of my tracks folder every friday night.Rave wrote:Do you back up / clone the whole drive?

Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.
