The 17" MBP has firewire... at least that is good news for some here.

True, but they would hardly have dropped FW from the 17" version when the 15" versions still had it.

That said, this is Apple we're talking about. :-)

I've been holding out forever for a new Mac. Since they're screwing up their laptop line so badly, it's making me just want to get a Mac Pro instead. If I go that route, I think in the long run I'll be glad I got the beefy ass desktop.

I've been holding out forever for a new iMac. Just got back from Macworld - very disappointed. Oh well they gotta release new stuff eventually....Saw this:

Didn't have time to check it out extensively, but I'll be back there tomorrow and thursday, so I'll have a closer look. Also saw a cool wireless SD card for my camera for like $80, but I'm bummed about the lack of new hardware.......

Well if it makes you feel any better, it seems like Apple is trying to piss all over IDG, meaning that they will announce all of the good stuff in a like a week...

Didn't Stong appear as Stong in a recent Little Britain USA episode? ...OK, it was Stonk, billed as from the popular British band The Cops.

I just want the simple elegance of the interface for my media files and not fumbling around with computer applications, and the Apple TV interface is way more functional than Front Row or itunes IMO. If I wanted to use my computer on my TV than I would just plug in the second monitor port on my MBP. But I understand why some people would rather use a Mini.

Hey, I just noticed a USB port on the back. What the heck is that for?
The USB port on the back of the Apple TV is used for diagnostics and maintenance by Apple techs. However, there do exist hacks to use it for an external hard drive and other stuff. Pretty neat. :D

Interesting but as the article points out there really isn't much of a point at this stage. Apple should have made the USB port available for adding storage for your media, but that really wouldn't follow their doctrine of "buy our hardware only, but we'll make the software cheap".

there are also a few dvd players out that have divx support and usb jacks....just throw your vids on an external hd and plug in...run everything from your dvd player right into your tv.
