They are my personal upgrade prices from the Ableton shop --> http://www.ableton.com/live-8-upgrades

Crazy thing is my quote for upgrading to the boxed Live 7 suite is 399 euro ??????
(319 download)

I'm rather glad I sat out Live 7 now!

Thank you (was sure I'd been there!)

From the basic Live 6 (no instruments) I'm getting

Upgrade to Ableton Suite (Download)
EUR 349 (about £315)

Upgrade to Ableton Suite (Boxed)
EUR 419 (about £375)

Live 1-6 to Live 8 Upgrade (Download)
EUR 199 (about £180)

Live 1-6 to Live 8 Upgrade (Box)
EUR 229 (about £205)

Damn the exchange rate!

Reckon I'll be going for the last one...

189 USD from L7 to the NON-Suite L8 doesn't sound too bad. I've gotten by fine without all the suite instruments so far. Think I can continue along that path for now.

Have to see how much Max for Live would set us back. Hopefully there will be some sort of discount for Max 5 owners.

ive been holding off upgrading from 6 for too long now, and drum racks are calling my name. if not, i guess i wait till march!

I was hoping for that (it's multiple controller lanes that have been calling my name). But doesn't look like it so far...

That price hurts given that the Sterling has become utterly f***ed in the past year, but needs must.

Any idea what the educational discount was in previous years?

Edit: Google is my friend. from 6 to 7 for Educational customers was $109 down from $159 and its EUR149 this time sooo.......

...if the discount stays roughly the same across versions and currencies, that'd be EUR102.14 for an educational license download upgrade from 7 to 8.

Which makes it GBP91.54 or $US134.04 at today's rates.

Thats much less painful.

Can i upgrade only Live 7 to v8, even if i own the suite? (i mean without the suite, just to make sure)

Im really not interested in anything in the suite, besides Operator and Sampler.
But i guess, as those are included in the suite, they wont get updated then, or..?

$189- US upgrade price? That for me is $285- Aud.
This is way too much- I have spent over $1100- on Ableton, and now people are getting Live 8 Suite for the same price I paid for Live 5! I feel insulted to be honest.

It's a great upgrade, but there will be Max for Live that will be more to shell out etc.... I just don't have it... piracy is looking like an option...

Some sort of payment plan option would at least help me out with such an expense... :x

6 to 7 download was EUR 99. I'm surprised that the equivalent 7 to 8 download is now EUR 149. Add to this the exchange rates and it means I'd be paying almost twice as much in £ for 8 as I paid for 7. It's an expensive upgrade and not one I'll be rushing into making, I'm afraid.
