High pitched whine out of my Fasttrack

All of a sudden, I am getting a high pitched buzzy whining sound out of my monitors when my M-Audio Fasttrack is set as the audio input device. Any ideas here, or is the Fasttrack just a piece of shit?

The noise you are describing sounds like the kind of thing you get when you have multiple paths to earth. If you are using a laptop try unplugging the power and running it on batteries and see if that helps. If it does then you probably have earthing problems. Check all your connections and cables etc.

Have you changed anything else in your setup? The small Presonus box has the same issue with some firewire chipsets.
