[amo]Can't drag'n'drop multiple clips in Session View?

Post by db91977 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 9:51 pm

I thought we could select multiple clips in the browser and drag them into the Session View. Doesn't work for me. I'm not sure if this is a bug or an "undocumented feature". :?

I can select them and hit <ENTER> and the clips are dropped into tracks, one clip to a track. But:

A) How do I grab several clips and put them into one track (vertically)?

B) How do I do the above with the mouse?

Yep, that's what I'm attempting, but all I get is the circle-with-line symbol (not allowed).

I can select, drag & drop single clips, but not two or more. Btw I know my mouse is working okay, because I can select and drag several clips to another place in the browser. But not into the Session View.

By clips you mean Live Clips?
Afaik, you can't do that in 7 either.

Hi,

Live clips can't be dragged when part of a multi-selection, unless they originate from the same track of an unfolded Live set in the Browser. If so, you can either drag them to a single track with the mouse, or press the enter key. If you drag them, be sure to drag them to the right kind of track, otherwise you'll get the "no way" sign.

For samples, you don't have this restriction.

Can you confirm that it's how it works for you?

Samples; not Clips...

Post by db91977 » Tue Feb 03, 2009 7:39 pm

I believe I was thinking of samples, not Clips, when I posted this. You can select multiple sample files, and drag them into the Session View.

-- If you just drag them into a Track without any modifier keys, they're in a vertical stack when they're deposited.

-- If you hold down Ctrl while dragging, the clips will show up on multiple Tracks; one sample per Track.

Sorry about any confusion I might have caused. Amaury, thanks for the clarification on moving/dragging Live Clips vs. samples. I can confirm that this is the way it works on my system.

Hi,

Good. As it seems to work as advertised, I'll lock this thread for clarity. Please open a new one, would you notice any wrong behaviour.
