NOOB question importing wav files

I'm brand new to this laptop recording thing. i have some samples in wav format i want to import into live (5 to 45 second loops), so i can drop them into an arrangement. but i can't work out how to do it after reading the manual. can some kind person point me in the right direction. i see stuff about export but not import.

why is it after 8 hours of trying to do something, you work it out 5 mins after posting on a bulletin board
