New guitar to midi tool from Peterson....cool?

for 99 bucks i don't know if you can go wrong. It's monophonic, so that's iffy, but still opening up midi possibilities is awesome. Now my basslines will finally sound hot!

It also has a tuner on it... ha. Can't tell if it's chromatic or not.

If anyone has used it before please enlighten!

This seems like a new product. I have never heard of this company, but it looks like their forte' is high end tuner equipment.

Some of the product literature makes me think that it doesn't track fast playing very well, but also makes me think it seems like it would be good for most basslines. I would not buy something like this unless I could try it first, or at least unless I could definitely return it for full credit.

It is inexpensive enough that if it were useful for sending 'trigger notes' that is might be fun to have.

Will definitely wait to read some reviews, but still pretty cool for the money...

peterson is known for making strobe tuners, and super expensive ones at that (thought they have a little stompbox one now)

The fact that you don't have to mount a pickup on yr gtr is a major plus.
And for $99 it could be handy as a way to at least add extra textures to guitar lines.

This looks interesting, found a review here:

not sure if this Chuck is reliable source? He was favorable with it's performance but he does point out (as does the manufacturer) it is monophonic so no chords......but leads apparently no worries.

:D the internets is great, it takes someone from Australia to find a source of info from this about 50 minutes from where I live.

Now, Chuck Levin is not alive (so if actually contacted he would likely be a reliable source on many things), but he is the founder of one of the leading Washington DC area music stores, which store puts out this blog. I would say they are a very reliable, experienced source and am glad to hear that the tracking is very good on this unit, definitely makes me want to buy it-- and if Chuck Levin's is stocking it, that is where I will go.

according to the blog, peterson is just distributing it. Cool.

so, should i hold out for polyphony, and can this replace my Boss tu-2 tuner?

Depends on how important that is-- I'd think polyphony is much more complicated/expensive. The review and videos are very encouraging for someting that is only $99.

This video shows a closeup of the case http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtVfet3J ... re=related showning that the tuner is (EADGBE).

kind of intersting vid here too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj_g21VHBLY
