[awi] Beta 14 + 7.0.14 Crash Crash Crash.....

Post by S4racen » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:58 pm

Help i can now longer open any of my old sets in either 7 or beta 14......

It just hangs when i open either and when i've opened package contents and loaded a template to then open a set i get Live working then it crashes when i try and open anything already created, i sincerely hope the beta has not corrupted all of my old work!!!

Cheers

backup, read FAQ, etc.

seriously though:
trash your prefs, trash the beta, trash 7, restart comp, reinstall 7, don't reinstall beta...ever.

So rebuilding the set track by track it would appear that i can't build mega sets anymore because My computer (with 9 gig ram) hasn't got enough memory available....

I had bigger sets in 7! This is ridiculous!

9gb ram??? what's your set up? (for beta testing it'd be helpful to have your set up info in your signature).

fwiw, it looks like the new transient warping is taking up a lot of memory, and it is possible to delete all transients per clip. maybe that would help. and just how big are your sets? i've got one with about 300 clips and an hour's worth of arrange automation...it takes longer to load but still plays fine (with the exception of an unrelated bug).

I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on a Xeon Mac with 9 GB ram.... My Ableton sets are saved in a seperate hard drvive that has plenty of room left for filling.....

Every time i open a set it has to reload every clip into it, it's quite painful watching it, i'm sure 7 was quicker......

mkay...stuff you can dump:

Users -> (your username) -> Library -> Application Support -> Ableton ->
in here there'll be a folder for each live version you've used. after trashing these you'll have to unlock again.

Users -> (your username) -> Library -> Preferences -> Ableton -> same deal, folders for each version

Users -> (your username) -> Library -> Preferences -> com.ableton.live.plist

afaik that's it (someone correct me if i'm wrong). also afaik, you can't do any damage deleting these. if removed, these files will simply be rebuilt next time you open live.

as far as slow load time and the rebuilding waveforms thing, my guess is this is a bug that was introduced in beta 13. there's been no word from ableton however.
