[4808] CTRL-dragging MIDI notes in the piano roll

Post by Nokatus » Tue Feb 17, 2009 9:19 pm

Ctrl-dragging a MIDI note or multiple selected MIDI notes only moves it/them according to the drag (instead of spawning a duplicate to be dropped somewhere else in the editor.)

I really hope this is a bug instead of the Ctrl-drag functionality having been removed..?

On a mac the modifier key to do this has always been ALT... but maybe it's different in Windows.

Hi,

Funny, I mean, not really funny. That's of course a bug. The funny thing is, in Live 8, we've implemented that you can press CTRL even after having starting the move. This still works, but not pressing CTRL before you initiate the move.

So, for now, please press CTRL after starting the move, and look for a fix in a future changelog.

Yep, it has been Control for years on Windows :) ... It's such an automatic part of my workflow I'm positive.

cross post from this thread
http://forum.ableton.com/posting.php?mo ... e&p=848676

i think a found a trick to bypass it..(on windows) select notes than press ctrl while holding the left mouse button, release ctrl and press ctrl again and you see the + appearing, and than you move the notes

thanks god its a bug anyway, i tought it was actually the new method, like a special key combo

So, this has still not been fixed in the Beta 15. Please don't miss it.

Luckily it works at least after you have pressed the button, but it is pretty annoying since it goes against the UI conventions we've come to get so used to during the last decade(s).

Kind regards,

Hi,

This is fixed for a while now. I moved the topic away. Please open a new one if you experience other problems.
