This might clutter the interface a bit, but I think it would be useful if there were some sort of guidelines or color strips that indicated the "active" zone for the (zoom, start marker, loop) tools.
Sometimes I want to move the loop region, only to hit the "zoom" button, or the "start marker). Or want to zoom in, but accidentally moving my loop... etc..
