[4930] bug when setting the first warp marker

Post by octex » Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:12 pm

I noticed what is most probably a bug every time I try to set the first (only) warp marker.
If I delete all warp markers, but one, and I try to adjust the waveform by shift clicking on the warp marker, the waveform always automatically jumps right to the beginning. If I create another warp marker (anywhere in the clip) it all works properly again.

It also happened to me a couple of times, if I used undo after creating the second marker, that the program froze for a while and than the waveform display was empty, and I had to delete the clip, and start over.

I noticed it in b13 and b14, both on Mac and Windows.

Hi,

Regarding the first part of your report, I can't reproduce: with only one warp marker, I can shift click it and then drag, and there is no jump. The waveform slides under the warp marker and everything is fine. There must be something more specific to it. Can you give more details?

For the second part, there is a bug that is already filed: with only one warp marker, SHIFT slide the waveform under it, then UNDO: the waveform looks empty. In fact it is not, but if you look at the tempo, you've got some illegal tempo like 0.2, and the waveform is so small that it looks empty. I guess that's what you are observing?

Here's a step by step guide how I get this:
I drag a soundfile file in to session view, to create new clip and let Live autowarp it.
After it has finished I delete all but the first auto created warp marker.
Then I want to move the waveform to to place it exactly under the warp marker, but the waveform jumps, so that the beginning of the waveform is aligned with the 1st bar. After it jumps you can slide it around normally, but the next time it try to adjust it it jumps again...
There were few rare times when this didn't happen (always when I was not zooming in so closely), but I can recreate it constantly on all the clips.

Thanks, I could reproduce what you described and file it as a bug.

Hi Michael,

on my system the slipping warp marker problem still exists on b22 but the undo problem seemed to be fixed since b19.

cheers p.e.
