MPC-1000, my R-09HR, DSI Evolver, Micron and maybe a Tracker of some sort.

using something else. I used Cubase for 8 years before Live, it's not as much fun but you can mostly get the same results with some perseverance. I also dabbled with Acid and Reason in the past.

I still prefer Live by a mile for composition and arrangement, it's my number one tool. But life went on before it and would after it.

Other things to consider are Reaper and Energy XT.
http://soundcloud.com/umbriel-rising http://www.myspace.com/leedsquietmandemos Live 7.0.18 SUITE, Cubase 5.5.2], Soundforge 9, Dell XPS M1530, 2.2 Ghz C2D, 4GB, Vista Ult SP2, legit plugins a plenty, Alesis IO14.

i probably would've finished 2 or 3 albums on reason and another 5 or 6 mix cd's with Virtual DJ by now... i love that Live has so much depth but i can't seem to finish any songs... i have my job partly to blame for that though, been super busy the last couple of years, which is about when i got Live to begin with.

I would be using Digital Performer. Mostly because it has a 'Song' window that really should be called a 'Set' window, where you can arrange a list of songs hours long, and it's not as fussy as logic with the tracks. Big downfall to Logic in a live situation is the key commands for up/down arrows that are easily accidentally pushed, that disarm whatever selected soft synth you're playing.
Logic is easier to wrap your head around than DP, but DP is the only DAW besides Live that has any thought put into live performance.

I was last on Sonar before Live. I'd probably use the mpc more.

if openlabs is the future and roger linn is the past then history really does repeat itself.

i'd have to go with the mpc, all the other alternatives hate them but try to be just like them.

i would jump to a parrellel Universe where there IS LIVE 8 8)

if that's not possible,i create live myself with max for live stolen from the Arcturians........
otherwise,fruity loops and N.I Maschine.

no frakkin" way i'm EVER going to use logic, cubase or protools...not that these are no good, but don't get my creativity flowing like live does.

I would still be wracking my brains trying to figure out how to print my vst output to an audio track in Sonar, in real time.
