OT Session Musician Release Form

Post by dhilsabeck » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:15 am

Hello All,
I am looking for a proper session musician release form.

I want the one that says, "You played on my song and you will have no claims whatsoever on said song and your services have been paid in full. The End."

I did a little research and this is what I found. Does anyone know if this would be an adequate form? Is it missing anything?

I know I should probably be asking on freelegaladvice.com but I'm sure there's a few of you in here who have crossed this bridge before.

Thanks in Advance,
Drew

I like the term "throughout the universe" a lot. 8O

I know. It's deep. Some other interesting legal speak I came across (for duration) was "from the beginning of the world until..."

I did some session work (sans finncial reward) for someone a couple of years ago, and kept getting threatened with receiving a one off payment every now and then when it looked like the track might be released, but the threats eventually dissappeared when it wasn't. Quite funny. The joys of original music creation. Play a crappy cover song in a bar somewhere and the pounds start rolling in. Sad really.

^^^

Yes, I know it can be a pain in the ass. That's why sometimes we all have to learn the hard way, adjust and then reapproach the order in which you do stuff in the future. Hence, this thread.

Can anyone offer some insight towards the session musician release posted below? Is it legit?

Thanks

I have no idea about the legaility of the above, however,
http://www.musiciansunion.org.uk/site/c ... rticle=439 this will link you to Musicians Union in the UK with many Music Contracts you can download, including musician for session...NOt sure what part of the world you're in as local laws may differ or you may have similar organisations that specialise nearby....may not be waht you're after, but for what its worth...

Cool. Thanks.

I'm based in the US, BTW.

Does anyone know if that makes a difference? Sorry for the ignorance here. You have to start somewhere...

Wow. Thanks.

Thanks again,
Drew
