what does choke do in drum racks?

i have looked around trying to figure out what choke groups do in drum racks and i can not figure it out. can someone explain?

as many chains (sounds, pads, instruments... etc) as you have assigned to one choke group, will cut each other off when a new note is played.

Expand the chains in the drum rack and you will see a column titled choke. Just select the same numbers for all of the hits etc you want in one group.

did anyone get annoyed with the fact that you can only change one choke at a time? Or am I the only one using 49+ samples in per rack? Would be nice to set them all at once, like that mpc.
