Mrs. Neb Finally HOME After a Life-Threatening Infection

She's still pretty weak, but we're taking it one day at a time, and she's slowly getting better and better every day.

Well, hi.

I'm not sure if everyone who posted will get an alert that there's a new message on the thread, but I figured this was the best place to start. Neb has been urging me since I got home from the hospital to read the thread. I am feeling pretty strong today, so I just read the whole thing.

Here are my thoughts ...

-- First, who says that women are more sensitive? I know most of you are guys. I was really surprised at your capacity for tenderness.

-- I was especially touched by the ones whose hearts were in their throat ... wow.

-- And the ones who prayed, who don't even believe in praying, and the ones who prayed with their significant others ... thank you.

-- To the longtime lurkers who felt suddenly compelled to say something, thank you for reaching out.

-- To those who debated whether you should be sending me orange or green beams or Muslim prayers (I'm Catholic, BTW) or whether prayer has an effect -- it all works. All of it. I do not remember the worst four days at all, (Friday-Tuesday) even though I was apparently communicating coherently.

But what I do remember during those four days is a very elaborate hallucination that I saw forwards and then backwards (but not literally ... just in reverse order). The main message was that everything in the universe has to be exactly the way it is/was for me to have gotten to that point, and that everything is collective -- all of everyone's thoughts and prayers and actions. THAT is what saved my life.

So that's what I mean when I say it all works.

Thanks to everyone for supporting Neb through a very trying time -- he will NOT stop reminding me that I almost died and I'll be clocking him soon if he doesn't quit.
