Live suite from 8.0.1 to 8.0.2 is 4X larger.... What has changed besides the bug fixes?

my 8.0.1 was 1.3gb or so (for suite)

I own the suite and my download size was 447 megs. Did you try the Check For Updates link in Help?

In Live 7.0.16, the suite program folder size is 376 MB on my PC.
In Live 8.0.2, the suite program folder size is 1585 MB.

The major difference is the folder called DefaultPackages which is 1.2GB.
This holds all the library presets, clips and samples. I imagine that
Repair Library uses that to fix things up.

So if you download the big sized package you are getting most of what's on the CDs.

Edit: Many of packages were also updated. When I look at the library, the version numbers
of many of the live packs are higher than the current one on the web site. So later
you will have to download them to achieve the same result if you download the small package
now.

You didn't download suite originally. IMO this was a bug on the release date as I upgraded to suite but the download was for the basic package.

Yep, had the same Problem that Day, first i started the Download on the smaller package. A bit later they added the Special Suite Download that was about 1.3 Gb.

I just do like to know if you need to download the whole Suite again to Update to 8.02. I thought a update should actually be smaller than the full Version.

You know what, I think I did download smaller packages 1 by 1 during the betas that might have added up to the 1+ GB. So this is everything in 1 package.... cool.

its beyond me why a bug fix and some minor updates need a full install and a reload of the live packs and instrument data.

surely the programmers avoid this requirement when designing the code.

I am installing 8.02 right now, and it's very strange. Why is the 8.02 folder in my applications folder 1.55 GB big while 8.01 is "only" 604 MB? This doesn't contain the library, I got it at a separate place (and it's 12,8 GB big).

I mean they are supposed to do the same, isnt it? Unless the bugs, obviously, so it actually should be smaller, haha.

Right now it's installing / actualizing my drumsamples. What the hell was buggy with drum racks? Never noticed anything. I hope latin percussion has improved a bit.

For me...
8.0.1 Suite upgrade = 1.20 GB
8.0.2 Suite update = 1.27 GB
I went to the "Latest Versions" sub page of the "Downloads" page on the Ableton main site.
I guess there must have been some changes to the Live Packs as well as the main application?

me too being a little confused,

updated, but went through the check for new version link in ableton and got directed to the 'normal 8.0.2 updater... thought this is wrong and went through the website downloads / updates... took the 8.0.2 suite update and yup an increase to 1.27gb. uff!!!

he did updated some of the library content as well, got a list after updating telling me which files have been untouched and which ones are updated, but could not figure any additions... 1.27gb just updates and no additions???

however, at least some of the bugs have been fixed, still having issues with midi feedback in certain older live sets and dragging a device still does not scroll the session view... AARRRGGHH!!!!!!

need to use it now a bit longer to figure what is still not working and what has been fixed for real.
