Hmm. I've never used a raydat. I can only vouch for Madiface, Multiface 2 and RPM via HDSPe or 34mm ExpressCard.

I´d say get the not so known Terratec Phase X24!
It´s a perfect trade off for ur money.
You get a perfect designed small and rockstable
Interface with SPL Preamps.
I highly recommend that one.
Yamaha have excactly the same Interface,
they just took them from Terratec and gave them a new
housing.
Yamaha called itGo 46
you can get this one (terratec)for about 150.- Euros on ebay.
Thats a steal.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

Don't know why you don't approve of macs. Maybe you're not aware of the new intel architecture as to how it replaces the Front Side Bus with Quick Path technology and how apple currently taking advantage of it with OSX 10.6 (its already screaming on 10.5.7). My RME works flawlessly with my 2009 Mac Pro and my 2008 MacBook Pro. Never had a single problem. Always worked from day one. I speak as a PC user since 1993 who has been cycling through macs since its transition to Intel (hated it on the IBM platform). Core i7 is great for Windows, but its better for Mac becuase intel has released special i7 Xeon chips solely for Apple (that may hit the general market late 2009).
PS I'm a computer engineer who has done my homework in this field.
Re: Buy sound card, now in 2009
PS you're an ass!!! I could've sworn we were discussing audio interfaces, which btw, I am an RME Multiface 2 user and I think it's one of the best bangs for the buck. But you, in all your engineering wisdom, have managed to turn this into a CPU architecture discussion. Screw Intel! Screw i7! Screw i7 Xeon later this year! It's gonna be priced way too high anyway! And Screw you!!! What does your computer engineering homework have to do with audio cards? Back to the original topic. This guy is looking for an audio interface. I'm a PC and have had no problems with my RME Multiface 2 with HDSPe PCIe card. Low latencies, solid drivers, quality components on all RME stuff, and great expandability on the MF 2. But if you want a firewire solution, you can't go wrong with the Fireface 400, and I'm sure the Fireface UC will be a great interface as well. Should work great on the new firewire-less Macbooks.JBlongz wrote:Don't know why you don't approve of macs. the new macbooks still have firewire.
cheap and easy to buy a firewire 400 to 800 cable.

I was responding to TitBag you DushBag! Just because YOU can't afford the new tech doesn't mean its crap. And being a computer engineer has alot to do with audio interfaces because umm...THEY CONNECT TO COMPUTERS!!..DO PLUMBERS BUILD THEM??...ass. Chill out, i know the recession is hitting your pockets bro...don't take it out on this thread as my posted info is could be helping and intriguing to others.McQ714 wrote:PS you're an ass!!! I referred to the new architechure because it also affects how our audio hardware communicates to the cpu, thus im getting better performance compared to my previous generation mac pro.
PS. I believe enough has been said regarding interfaces until we know the original poster's specs.

I would like to know if there's anything WORSE than a SoundBlaster 16 !?!Like I said, SoundBlaster 16
Can't go wrong with RME, they just came out with a new soundcard, a usb version of the Fireface 400.
Motu Traveler is good too if you have a lower budget.

some of you must be noobs here, because Titbag is a long time troll and long may he continue, he is occasionally funny
The new RME USB device is lush - as stated it uses RME's proprietary protocol and RME claim it can be run as low as 18 samples in Mac OSX, 32 samples in Win XP and 48 samples in Vista. This is ULTRA LOW latency and it stack up to their firewire products and some - they have been developing it for over 2 years. The Native Instruments Audio Kontrol is also capable of very low latencies as a USB card, although it is restricted to just a couple of inputs.
Otherwise the advice about pci and firewire is accurate.

I guess USBface didn't quite have the same nice ring to it.abletoff wrote:Rme fireface usb.
I'll add a vote for RME. I have the Fireface 800 and it is excellent.
Though, to be honest, now that I've decided to sell all my hardware, it sort of feels like overkill. Might sell it and grab a Fireface 400... hmmmmmm
Motu is also great. I used to have an Ultralite and absolutely loved it. another thing to consider myself. hmmmmmmm
