Re: Live 8 groove vs. the real thing
thanks for your help kb 420
i will watch this tutorial..
but before extracting a groove i try to loop it very well...
one thing i have noticed that it works for me is :
- put 100 percent in quantize parameter in groove pool
- put the timing near zero or the amount near zero
when i have a look at ableton live 8's groove library lot of grooves have 0 in quantize and 100 percent in timing so i put these settings in my extracted groove but with these settings i wasnt able to find the behavior of my original extracted's mpc quantization groove ..
but its just my opinion..
thanks again !

That way you're quantizing, not applying groove...petit nuage wrote: - put 100 percent in quantize parameter in groove pool

Re: Live 8 groove vs. the real thing
first time i put 100 percent in quantize parameter i was thinking like you..
but ive tried to quantize a midi sequence with ctrl+ u or quantization in edition menu... with the classic /basic 1/16 ableton quantization (start/end :100 percent) to compare and to see ...as you said ...if when im tweaking the quantize parameter at 100 percent , i will get a classic 1/16 quantization... and the result are not the same ..
so i must not understand something somewhere or make some mistakes...
so thanks again ..i ve to investigate and experiment this new exiting groove feature and particularly the quantize and timing parameters..
tschuss !

Re: Live 8 groove vs. the real thing
..i must bring a precision..
the most of the time i dont use new groove quantization in live to give life to a midi sequence originally written with the pen on the grid...
but most often to get a bit more linear sequence from a very offbeat /fast sequence play and recorded live..but also keeping the human ,funk ,groove of the realtime playing..

Not the same thing. Your problem is in the extraction itself. If you don't check the warp marker positions of the the audio you are extracting a groove from, then that's the reason you aren't getting the desired results.
