I plan to check this out soon, really dig Apparat, but ever since people on this forum got all wet over Battles I don't trust people's taste matching mine.

Hopefully it's not a lot of sound design noodling that the average listener doesn't appreciate. In that regard chock me up as a Britney Spears fan.

^ you can get a reasonable impression from the myspace snippits: http://www.myspace.com/moderat - but the CD sounds fantastic really loud on a hifi :) If you like Apparat, it's pretty safe to say you'll like at least 80% of this album, which is good enough in my book...

You realize the promo is in MONO, yeah?

They commissioned a special reverb algorithm from Joshua Kit Clayton that they wanted to keep under wraps a bit until the real release. I had the promo, as well. First day I put it on, I was like... 'why does this sound kinda flat?' Then I realized... it's in mono! LOL!!

I thought it got a bit flat in the middle - from Slow Match to Sick With It, but otherwise was really good stuff. Cheers to the OP for the heads up.

the audivisual DVD is ace. high end graphic design meets high end sounds (though i feel the raveless tracks more)

Am still loving it. Bought the 'deluxe edition' from the iTunes store, which has a couple of extra (long!) tracks with it. Belting stuff.

Not too keen on the Modeselektor-Dub/Rap song in the middle, but other than that, it's a win.

Was just about to buy the standard (CD only) edition until I saw your post - the CD+DVD version was actually cheaper too! Nice one - ta!

Out of interest, how does everyone "pronounce" Moderat. I thought of it as mod-er-at. My wife saw it and thought mode-rat. I laughed until I thought about the title of the thread MODE + RAT.

Anyone?

Superb album!
I'm really looking forward to seeing them live later this year.
