Re: Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use and why
My vote is for Live6, because it's all I have. Frankly, I'm still learning from it, even after 2 years... at the moment, I'm more concerned with upgrading my computer (still on a G4) than upgrading my software!
Re: Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use and why
live 7, the most recent 100% stable one.

Currently using Live 7, although I might download the L8 demo in a few days (just so I can use Looper for a while!) and try it out. L7 'just works' with all of the NI stuff, and is happy to be thrown around like an old pair of shoes.

Live 8.
People whine a bit about bugs but frankly all software is broken to some degree IMO, and Live 8's new features make it the daddy. midi mapping to device title bars in association with instant mapping? THAT is worth it on it's own right there.
Don't even mention, looper, collision, corpus, new warping modes, new warping system (much better imo, now that I've got used to it), Oper8tor (a life times worth of synthesis in the one box), multiband comp, limiter. shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. (copyright: Senator Clay Davis)
Jebus, how much fun can one person have on his own (using music software). Live 8 has put the fun back in making music.
It serves to remind me what a dull process making music with Logic, Cubase etc. is.
FUN! L8 ftw!

Seriously, though; the blue-hand + MIDI assignment thing is worth the money along in my eyes... Giggery, here we come!

Re: Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use and why
I still use live 7 in concerts because during rehearsal live 8 crashed a couple of times on me. I would love to use looper live, but it made ugly noises when live is slaved to midi-clock.
But for hometweaking I am with live 8.
It's a real drag that there is no backwards compability, not even on simple stuff as re-using a midi clip in 7 that you have created in live8. I sometimes render/consolidate stuff in 8 because I want to use it in my liveset in live 7, and then you have to take care that there is no asd-file from 8 for the clip, it's a hassle.
hope that the next bugfix is stable enough for me ...

ah, and I have an old ibook with live3, and from time to time I play with it. Great program!! Limitations force you into creativity. It's incredible what you can do with audio only. Someone remember the livesets from Robert Henke that only had one sample of white noise, and by working with clip envelopes he had created kickdrums, pads, hihats resulting in some very convincing tracks?

8 if it would be working well already.

Live 6, mainly because I can't afford to upgrade. The newer versions look amazing, but I doubt my Powerbook G4 could handle them well anyway.
Re: Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use and why
Live 7.0.14 cuz it's rock solid, BUT just realized I have to upgrade by June 30th to use my coupon code discount, so v.7's days are probably numbered.

Don't believe the hype. The thread is "Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use..." not Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Troubleshoot and why?
"Use" is a key word.
Re: Which Version of Live Do You Prefer to Use and why
For me that's 7.0.15 right now... been running like a champ since the upgrade. I had a complete library fuck up, no real thanks to support on that one - i got it sorted out, but the software is all good.SubFunk wrote:i want one of those.H20nly wrote:I prefer LIVE CFE.
